[Akira yelps, curling inward reflexively at the bite, and lowers one arm with a frown to lightly thwap Goro on the head.] Okay, time out-- don't get vicious with me like it's my fault I got fucking stabbed. [He's not actually mad, just startled and a little chuffed about it. Nips are sensitive, you demon!]

[Uh oh. That actually does make Goro stop. Without saying anything he withdraws away from Akira, taking a step to give him more room to gather his bearings. There's a mixed expression on his face. Anger, guilt, hurt -- all of them being reflected on his eyes as he looks into his partner's grey gaze.]

No. It's my fault. C'mon. [And with that he steps further into their apartment, heading towards the kitchen.] Have you eaten anything? There ought to be some leftovers in the fridge.

[His frown changes, and he doubletaps his steps to catch up, taking Goro by the elbow gently.] That's not what I meant. It was Gogol's fault, and I agreed to help you look for him.

[If Goro permits, he steps closer to him and puts his head against Goro's, nose just behind his ear.] I ate a little earlier, have you?

[Goro stops when Akira catches up on him, not refusing the touch nor the closeness. He feels bitterness stinging in his stomach. True, it had been Gogol who was ultimately at fault. But it had been Goro's own actions that had driven the madman into the corner, forcing his hand into the violence.

He pulls his lips back, the pout making its reappearance.]

I have. [Granted, it had not been much as he barely had appetite. Half of an open sandwich or so, but Akira does not need to know that.] But you are right. You've had a long day while traveling, let's go sleep.

[He tilts his head to kiss the shell of his ear.] Can you look at me a second?

[Goro tenses a bit when feeling lips to press against his ear. He sighs out heavily, the posture deflating a little as a sign of giving up. Then, he turns around so that he's facing Akira properly.]

[chemex]

[He levels him with a placid look, if tired.]

I love you, okay? It wasn't your fault. It was more mine than yours, but my nipples did nothing wrong here and don't deserve to become chew toys. [He fails at saying that with a completely straight face, a crooked grin crinkling the outer corners of his eyes. He skims his hands down Goro's arms to find his hands.] Have you really eaten? I can make us something easy.

[Ah. Here they go again. Akira's dumb joke at the end is, once again, enough to disarm Goro off his doubts and anger. He puffs air out and rolls his eyes out of frustration, raising his hand to swat Akira's forehead.]

Fine, you idiot. I apologize for such crude manner. It was not in my intention to actually damage. [Even if the desire to leave his own mark on Akira's body lingered strongly in his mind. He glances quickly at their joined hands before pressing to rest his forehead against Akira's shoulder.] It's fine.

..I missed you, too.

I'm admittedly a little more touch-sensitive in the area than usual. [Take that however you like, Goro.]

[He hums, fond over the statement. It's so much more to him to hear Goro say something vulnerable like that. He noses against his temple, crooning softly.] Can I make you something to eat, your avoidance of the question tells me you haven't eaten enough.

Mmm. [Goro lets out a quiet, almost soft sounding growl as he nuzzles against Akira's neck.] No. I don't want to eat.

[Akira chuckles, craning his neck to let Akechi bite if he wants.] Maybe not food, but you're certainly acting like you want to eat me.

[Surprisingly enough? Biting isn't in Goro's mind right now. It's almost as if the previous vigor and anger has escaped from him, leaving him weary and boneless. But there is one thing he's hungry for, -- has been hungry for nine days and more. Ever since he took Akira to hospital.]

I wonder if your body will even remember me.

[It's a starkly more tender comment than Akira was expecting, and it shows in the way his expression slackens slightly. He curves his body, then, leaning his head on Goro's opposite shoulder and wrapping his arms around his back to cage him firmly against his front.] No part of me could ever forget you.

[Goro leans his body against Akira's, closing his eyes in content. Yeah, this is exactly what he had been missing. Not just the heat of the passion, concentrated and unyielding lust -- but soft tenderness. The feeling of Akira, his pulse, warmth, taste and scent.]

Because I missed you too much when I didn't have you. [The summer he spent with the Thieves, running around conquering Jails... He had missed Goro's snark so terribly. His sass, despite himself. His devilishly sharp wit, his ability to adapt...]

[His fingernails draw idle patterns into the back of his shirt.] I couldn't. It'd hurt too much.

[Ah. He supposes that Akira did have to spent more time apart from him, than Goro without him. There had been a whole summer, several months worth of time between them for him. Unlike to Goro, who had woken up in this world immediately after Maruki's downfall.]

Idiot. How could you miss something you don't have. [He hums, voice soft and calm. After a brief moment, he pulls back from the embrace to look at Akira's face.] Then show me. How much you've missed me.

[He laughs, and the sound is surprisingly strong. A week ago, this conversation would have sent him spiraling and he likely would have started crying. Now, he only smiles.] It took me getting to spend time with you and not have the threat of the world looming over us to realize, but I've probably loved you a lot longer than I consciously knew.

[His eyes glitter, but with a spark of Joker's mirth. His grin pulls crooked.] You got it, Detective.

[Goro falls silent at that declaration, not sure what to think of the boldness of the other. He's already somewhat gotten accustomed to love confessions and does not react badly to them anymore, but Akira's words certainly did resonate with something in him, sparking the warm feeling inside his chest.

When had this started, indeed? Goro has wondered about it too. Since when did these feelings towards Akira start? Was it only after they had been able to stand here as equal, face to face -- like partners rather than just rivals. Had it been back in that lonesome February evening at Leblanc? In Boiler room?.. Or maybe even during the summer before.

But it matters not, he guesses. What's important that they're here, like this together.

Reaching out to take Akira's hands to his owns, Goro begins to take steps backwards. Leading them both to their couch.]

[Akira was dumb af about it, even when they first showed up in Aldrip. He always knew Goro was important to him, but he hadn't figured out how to quantify the importance or put words to it. He probably came closest to realizing it in February, when he realized he was about to lose Goro again, probably for good, but he squashed it down to make it easier on them both.]

[His grin pulls broader and softens simultaneously as Goro pulls him, and he squeezes his fingers to pull his hands closer, and eventually behind him so their chests bump together when they reach the couch.] I'll never forget the way you move, [He says softly, curling sideways to exhale and pepper featherlight kisses down Goro's neck.] Gracefully determined, viciously focused.

[Guiding Akira's hands around his waist, Goro sits on the couch and pulls the other one down with him. Either to straddle him or to kneel on the floor in front of him. His own fingers briefly trace the shape of Akira's jawline before reaching to play with the collar of his shirt.]

Practiced perfection. The way you moved in Metaverse was always much more natural and graceful than my performance.

[He goes easily, sitting perched on his knees straddled over Goro's lap. He ducks his head to kiss Goro's knuckles as they fiddle with the collar of his shirt, turning his head to smile at him through his lashes as he does.]

I felt more natural in the Metaverse. Out here I'm like a baby deer on a good day. [He shifts to take one of Goro's hands, running his thumb along his fingers and dipping between each carefully, maintaining eye contact as he does.] ...I don't know if I've told you how easy I get lost in your eyes. Always have-- even then.

I think that is a very gracious estimation, even for you. Even an hour old deer have more coordination in their legs than you, idiot. [He chuckles a snide at him, his fingertips tracing over the red bite marks he had left on the other's skin just mere a moment ago.]

I have noticed. [Akira wasn't exactly subtle with his affection and Goro has caught quite often staring at his way, each time focusing on different parts of his body and features. Most of times he didn't comment on it, outside of shooting a questioning look at his way but leaving at that. ] ..I prefer yours. They're like an ocean after a storm.

Wow, rude. [He nips one of his knuckles, just slightly.]

[He hums, keeping his lids half-closed so Goro can't look at his eyes immediately. From the way his cheeks dust pink, he's a little embarrassed about Goro's words.] ...poetic, from you.

[The slight flush of embarrassment on Akira's face makes Goro grin almost victoriously. He pulls his hand free from the other's hold so that he can wrap both of his arms around Akira's neck, pulling his face closer to his.]

From me? Should I take that you don't believe in my literacy skills?

[Akira rumbles a soft little laugh, compressing in how he sits on him so he can burrow into his shoulder.] Given you immediately paraphrased Hegel upon meeting me? Not in the least.
