Just this once, though. Let's call it your sick day treat. [Because that's what people did, right? Watch movies or something like that when being sick but seeing that there really isn't much entertainment to go with.]
[He rumbles softly, careful to not irritate his throat, shifting around to lay on his side rather than curled up like a weird pillbug around Goro's hip.]
[Once Akira shifts and the weight is lifted from him, Goro leans towards his nightstand and reaches to open the small locker. From there he digs out a black book with white lettering, one that's seen better days for sure. Damn hooligans not knowing to respect the property of library.
Then, he leans back on the bedframe, pops one knee up so that he can rest the book against it. He opens from seemingly random page and begins to read:]
We tend to think of power as always radiating in a single direction - from top to bottom - and coming from a specific source - the sovereign, the state, the ruling class and so on. However, the power does not 'function in a form of chain ', it circulates. It is never monopolized by one center. It is deployed and exercised through a net like organization. This suggests that we are all, to some degree, caught up in it's circulation - oppressed and oppressors. It does not radiate downwards, either from one source or from one place. Power relations permeate all levels of social existence and are therefore to be found operating at the every site of social life, in the private spheres of the family and sexuality as much as in the public spheres of politics, the economy and the law.
[He keeps his voice calm and soft as he reads. It's a very different experience than to be asked read a passage from the textbook at the school.
And as he reads he let's his free hand to find its way to Akira's hair, gently petting it.]
[Once Goro's hand finds his hair, his sleepless state simply dissolves. His eyes droop closed and he sags, immediately relaxed, until he shifts a little to be more comfortable, and more importantly-- closer to Goro. He props just his head against his hip this time, actually listening as best as he's able for a while, but somewhere between "caught up in it's circulation" and "power relations", his weight rests fully against Goro's body.]
[He shifts again, bringing his arm up to loop across Goro like a seatbelt, and mumbles.] ...love you.
[His breathing evens out shortly after, and he is officially Out.]
[He's relieved to see the way Akira's body language shifts as he finally relaxes, the tension seemingly dissolving from him. Good.
He continues to read out loud, turning pages with one hand while one is busy with caressing Akira's temples. Only when Akira quietly speaks the soft affection, does he stop and turn his eyes down to look at his boyfriend. He doesn't say anything and neither does he stop his fingers combing through the dark curls. His heart swells and a warm feeling takes over him instead of the fear.
And just because his lips stay sealed doesn't mean he's not thinking "I love you too" in his mind. In fact he's feeling the tenderness of the love with his whole being.
Gross. When did he become such a sap? Well anyway. Goro turns his attention back to the book. He was just getting to the good part!]
