[Akira yelps softly, startled by the (wet) furry assault, and turns his attention back to the cat, grinning broadly. He slowly starts drumming his fingers again, careful to otherwise not move.] Hi there.
[The cat assumes a stalking position, flattening her slim body down against the floor while dilated pupils are focused on her prey -- which being Akira's fingers. Another moment passes and the cat surges forward towards the human's fingers, this time getting tangled in the the wet towel in process.
And while Akira's busy with entertaining their new (wet) guest, Goro finishes getting ready. Despite making a big deal about tonight just a moment ago he's chosen dress up rather modestly. Dark dress pants with silver belt, the white shirt decorated with crwo ornaments (both being the birthday presents from Akira). His long hair is neatly combed to the side, bangs tucked carefully behind his right ear. ]
[Akira's laughing softly as she gets caught in the towel, scooping her better into it and rubbing her down with it to help dry her quicker, all while keeping her distracted with his fingers. He looks up when Goro rejoins them and his fingers go still, his expression glazing over for a moment.] ...yeah. You look nice.
[Surprisingly enough! Cat doesn't seem to be bothered being caught in the towel, and is even making soft purring sounds when being rubbed. Though her eyes still don't leave the wiggling fingers.]
I know, but thank you for your assessment, Akira. [Goro walks up to them, stopping to stay behind Akira and the cat. The smirk on his lips might be light but there is still something almost pensive in the way he looks at the pair.]
[The question soars over Akira's head and he just stares, blinking as he tries to process it. He looks Goro up and down once, frowns, looks away, and then back to him.] ...about your outfit?
[Once she's mostly dry, Akira carefully scoops the cat, towel and all, into his lap, and starts rubbing behind her ears, watching her.]
[He wants to say, "we could keep her,". Several things stop him, and for the briefest of seconds his eyes glass over just enough to be noticed before he looks away from her and back up to Goro.] Yeah? I can ask Kotone.
[Being asked directly makes his posture pull inward slightly, and he drops his gaze to the cat in his lap, sucking his lower lip into his mouth and chewing on it. It takes him a minute, but he shakes his head, and is a bit startled, himself, when we looks back up to Goro and his lashes are damp.]
No, um-- sorry, this is a weird thing to be upset about, but can we keep her? I promise I'll look after her, you won't even know we have her.
But the cat doesn't! She seems to takes note of the sudden mood change in her handler and turns her head around, round eyes looking curiously up right at Akira, head tilting slightly to the side like an owl.]
I don't mind the cat, Akira. I wouldn't have brought it here otherwise. [It had been in his intention to gift the cat to Akira. He believes it to be right choice, especially now that he sees the two of them interacting. But still-- he can't keep the fear away completely.] But.. You know what keeping her means.
[Stability. It won't just be two of them anymore and there's another being with them. Responsibility and well.. Building something more permanent together than their current state.]
[Akira just makes a very dumb little sound at her, reaching back down to rub behind her ears again mindlessly. He makes another little dumb sound, and smears his free hand over his eyes, glancing back up and reaching that same hand out toward Goro.]
[Too bad he doesn't carry a handkerchief with him currently, otherwise he'd offer it to Akira, who clearly is having a moment.
His eyes drop to look at the outstretched hand before he takes a few steps closer, closing the small gap between them, and taking Akira's hand into his own.]
[It's fine, his moment is mostly?? Over. He tugs Goro closer and bumps his head into whatever of him is closest, leaving it there.]
It'll help stabilize me, I think, to have a pet? And cats are really great companions, I promise. I'll clean her litter and feed her and I can't promise I won't spoil her absolutely rotten, but... [He looks up again, meeting Goro's eyes.] Are you okay with it?
[He turns his head back into Goro's thigh and mashes it there a moment, huffing a sigh and curling his arm behind Goro's knee while he pets his hair.] ...I miss Morgana a lot.
[It'd be a surprise if he didn't. Morgana had always fallen into "okay" category for Goro when it came to Phantom Thieves, as he did respect his status as otherworldy being. And even though he hadn't really had a chance to see just what kind of life they lived together as a pair (seeing that most of the time Morgana was just pretending to be a cat.. Or a human.) but he could there that there was a deep bond between the boy and his not-cat.]
If I ever find him meowing under our balcony or digging trash I'll be sure to bring him in, too. [Pause.] You are allowed to miss your friends, Akira.
[He feels like he's backslid so far from where he'd been. Saved the world, killed some Gods, and six months in another realm without most of the friends he'd made saving the world was dissolving the strength they thought he had like butter in a hot pan. He presses his face into Goro's thigh a little harder, offering a damp little chuckle.] You're so much sweeter than you want anyone to think, you know that? You're so sweet.
[Goro keeps stroking Akira's hair, twirling some of the stray curls around his fingers while trying to provide comfort until---
yeah you ruined it. suddenly Goro fists Akira's hair, pulls it a little before shoving the other away.] Go get changed you idiot. I'll get table ready for us.
[He hisses softly at the pull, still smiling when he scoops up the cat in her towel and passes her to Goro as he stands.] Watch her? [Bond with your ship daughter, Goro.]
- Hey! [Goro lets out a surprised sound when Akira is suddenly passing the damp bundle on his arms. He looks down at the cat on his arms, then up to Akira, eyes wide and confused.] I can't use kitchen like this.
Just while I change. [Goro should you be using the kitchen to begin with--]
[He moves away, leaving Goro with the cat and getting dressed. He washes his face in an effort to rid himself of the remnants of his little episode, knowing full well he's probably not going to come down off the hair trigger of emotion until he actually lets himself have a complete meltdown over..., Well, everything (unlikely). So he patches himself up as best he can and dresses up nicely, doing up all his buttons and laces slowly to give himself a minute.]
[When he comes back out to Goro, he's in a collared shirt and a small lace-up corset-like garment around his natural waist, high waisted pants hugging his hips to offset the looseness of the collared shirt. He wears it unfairly well, the ends of his curls damp from washing his face, and smiles.] There, is that more to your liking?
[Goro parts his lips in protest but doesn't manage to get a word out before Akira disappears into another room, leaving him and the cat awkwardly alone together.
The red eyes look down at the pale yellow ones as he and cat stare each other, neither quite sure how to proceed with this situation. Somehow Akira's presence had managed to zero down the previous dynamic they shared -- which mostly was a cat bullying a human for attention and food.
When Akira returns it's like they hadn't moved a bit from where he had left the duo. Both turn their attention back to him, blinking a quite bit.
Damn you Akira Kurusu for being accidentally so attractive to Goro Akechi.] Quite. There's just one thing--, come back here will you?
[When Akira is close enough Goro pushes the cat against his chest, trying to pass it back to the other one. However, she doesn't quite appreciate being manhandled and just passed around like bag of chips and squirms around in the towel in resistance. But whatever, that's Akira's problem now!
With his hands free again, Goro reaches up to push the few stray hair strands off Akira's face, making sure that his eyes are properly visible and drops them to straighten his frilly collar (as if it wasn't fine already).]
There, all better. Now, granted that I couldn't take you out properly to see the night sky and fireworks on skytree tower, or to a restaurant like back in Tokyo, but I still intend that we do this according to the book. I purchased a bottle of wine for us tonight and Kotone kindly provided us with a desert. As for dinner, I assume you have something on your mind? I did see you bring home fish yesterday.
[He takes over cat holding duties easily, and closes his eyes when Goro fixes his hair and his collar, humming.] Yeah, I thought I'd make you sushi. It's not exactly traditional, but I've been practicing, and I know how much you like it.
